Note that logic and proofs by induction will be important for the exam!

To study for induction during this long weekend:
•
Review MF ch.2.7 which gives the techniques without the proofs why it works.
No need to wait until I do ch. 6.1!
•
Review the induction problems in B/G Ch. 2.3.
You should be able to do closed book those that do not refer to divisibility.
•
Once you understand strong induction,
review MF ch.21.1 (Sample Problems for Induction),
problems 21.2, 21.4 - 21.6.
d.
There will be a quiz either this Wednesday or Friday.
e.

I have to undergo some surgery for my eyes on Wed 8/30.
There will be a substitute lecturer.
It is not clear yet whether I will teach the Fri 9/1 lecture, but a quiz is very likely
since I like to have two quizzes graded before the add/drop deadline on Tue 9/5..
I will make an effort to grade that quiz in time for the Tuesday lecture.
(THERE WILL BE A LECTURE ON TUE 9/5!)
