Email from Dr. William Kazmierczak. Director of Calculus, to all Math 323 instructors (9/1/2026):
I have just been informed that students taking Math 225, 226, 227, & 323 will NOT be automatically billed for Cengage Unlimited.
This is to ensure that students who have already paid for Cengage Unlimited in a previous semester don't get charged again.
The mechanism that automatically provides students with new Cengage Unlimited subscriptions does not consider
a students' purchase history, and in turn, are given a new subscription regardless if they purchased Cengage Unlimited before.
Consequently, students who have not purchased Cengage Unlimited through the Bookstore or in a past semester
will now encounter a paywall saying they need to purchase it by September 12.
If a student encounters a paywall saying they have temporary access until September 12,
that means they should purchase Cengage Unlimited through the online bookstore for the discounted $149.99 price.
So, the bottom line is that if this is the first time a student is taking one of our calculus courses,
then they must purchase Cengage Unlimited from the online bookstore in order to receive the discounted $149.99 price.
I have already updated the Math 323 website about this.
