Text Book and MyStatLab (SDM) Website:

The course will be taught according to the book "Stats - Data & Models, 4th edition" by De Veaux/Velleman/Bock. Even though it is NOT REQUIRED, we RECOMMEND that you get the version with MyStatLab access. See the syllabus for further detail on this issue. You will need that MyStatLab access code to register for Math 148 on the MyStatlab website, also referred to as the SDM website or the DVB website. (SDM stands for the initials of the text, Stats, Data & Models, and DVB stands for the initials of De Veaux/Velleman/Bock, the authors of the textbook.) Here is the link for instructions to register. If you review those instructions then you see that you need to provide the course ID (fochler64900) to register.

Be aware that there is a solutions manual for this book. The price on Amazon is about $45. It does not contain more solutions than the book (the ones to all odd numbered problems), but the problems are fully worked. You will see that most of the even numbered problems are proceeded by a very similar (odd numbered) one and this definitely should be helpful when you attack the homework problems. Here is the link.

If you have purchased access to the SDM website then you have access to the instructor's slides I am using in lecture. You navigate the Pearson SDM site as follows: In the main menu of the course (where you can access, e.g., the eText and Homework links) you click on the Multimedia Library link. In the Multimedia Library page you then check the PowerPoint option in the Media Type area. That's it! You then can view or also download those slides.
