The course will be taught according to the book
"Stats - Data & Models, 5th edition" by De Veaux/Velleman/Bock.
Pearson, the publisher of the book, has an offering called MyStatLab.
You will need the MyStatLab access code to register for Math 147B on the MyStatlab website,
also referred to as the SDM website or the DVB website.
(SDM stands for the initials of the text, Stats, Data & Models,
and DVB stands for the initials of
De Veaux/Velleman/Bock, the authors of the textbook.)
IMPORTANT: It used to be the case that you had to explicitly register to obtain MyStatLab access. This course participates in the FIRST DAY program which offers a reduced price for the Pearson materials for this course. As a student of Math 147B you have been automatically enrolled into MyStatLab and have been/will be automatically charged for that access. You must go into the instructor's BrightSpace (not the one for your TA section!) to reveal your access code you also go there to opt out! Navigation instructions: In the Course Tools dropdown, select "Course Materials - B&N First Day". This Course Materials page contains two links that are relevant concerning the Pearson website.
Even though it is NOT REQUIRED, we RECOMMEND that you obtain MyStatLab access.
See the syllabus for further detail on this issue.
Here is one big advantage.
The SDM website lets you access the
instructor's slides I am using in lecture.
You navigate the Pearson SDM site as follows:
In the main menu of the course (where you can access, e.g., the eText and Homework links)
you click on the Video & Resource Library link,
then you check the PowerPoint option in the Media Type area.
That's it! You can view or also download those slides.
