On this page will be pictures of sculptures I made in Fall 2018. The first one is a small glass pendant I made using flame work at the Corning Museum of Glass: Make Your Own Glass on August 19, 2018. This wonderful museum has fantastic exhibitions of glass from all periods of history, and also allows visitors to make their own glass items under the careful supervision of experienced young glassmakers. I gave this one to my daughter, Emily, as a birthday gift.
The second sculpture, completed on January 11, 2019, was a (3,5) torus knot carved from a 1.25"x4"x4" block of Big Leaf Maple Burl wood. The final carving is 1" thick and 3.5" in diameter. Here are pictures of the two sides.
The third sculpture, completed on January 19, 2019, was a (3,5) torus knot carved from a 2"x4"x4" block of cocobolo wood. The final carving is 1.5" thick and 3.75" in diameter. Here are pictures of the two sides and from an angle.
The fourth sculpture, completed on January 20, 2019, was a (3,5) torus knot carved from a 1.25"x4"x4" block of Big Leaf Maple Burl wood. The final carving is 1" thick and 3.5" in diameter. Here are pictures of the two sides and from an angle. This piece was carved from the same wood block as the second sculpture (above), a thicker block that I cut in half to make two carvings.
